I have just listened to the link that Ruth provided. It is dissapointing to see that 50% of nursing staff have considered leaving. This certainly would afftect our already depleted nursing stock! The difficulties being that expereienced staff leaving can not all be replaced by new graduates and we have plenty of them. We still need to be able to staff our wards/clincis etc with a mix of new and experienced staff. What would happen to the already stretched standard of care if we lost 50% of our experienced staff.
Having just spent 2 and a bit weeks in Waikato Hospital I marvelled at how well the nurses worked on my first afternoon there my nurse was looking after 7 patients!
